Quickie: Fresh Brazilian Juices

Each week I post a sweet or savoury, healthy recipe!

One of the best foodie experiences in Brazil (and especially Rio) is sipping a fresh suco (juice) at a corner lanchonete (snack stand.) The sucos are made to order with flavours that can be mixed as creatively as you want! There are so many varieties but the four below are among my favorite. Try one or them all - maybe even add your own touches!

Each makes one glass

INGREDIENTS - RASPBERRY, GINGER & STRAWBERRY

    • 1/2 cup or 60g raspberries
    • 1 cup or 150g strawberries halved
    • 1 "thumb tip" of chopped and peeled ginger (measured from joint to fingertip)

    INGREDIENTS - LIME & ORANGE

    • Freshly squeezed juice and pulp from 3 oranges
    • Freshly squeezed juice and pulp from 1 lime
    • 1/4 cup or 60mL water (optional)

    INGREDIENTS - GRAPE & WATERMELON

    • 1/2 cup or 85g red, seedless grapes halved
    • 1 cup or 150g watermelon cubed

    INGREDIENTS - PINEAPPLE & MINT

    • 1 cup chopped pineapple
    • 1/8 cup or 5g chopped fresh mint

      Steps

Add ingredients in a blender with a small handful of ice (if you prefer them cold) and liquify until smooth. Pour and sip up the goodness!
